Scrios means “to ruin” or “destroy” in Irish — but we’re not here to tear theatre down. We believe that destruction is also part of creation: clearing space for new voices, fresh perspectives, and untold stories.

Scrios exists to champion Cork writers and produce bold new Irish theatre to the highest professional standards. We are committed to nurturing local talent, creating original work that resonates both here at home and far beyond.

Founded in 2025, Scrios represents a new chapter for Cork theatre. Building on the city’s rich heritage, we bring together established and emerging artists to create uncompromising new work — strengthening Cork’s place on Ireland’s cultural map.

Cheryl Walsh, Producer of Scrios, is a Cork-based actor, theatre maker, and businessperson. A passionate advocate for Irish theatre, she founded Scrios from a belief that Cork voices deserve to be heard regardless of Arts Council funding, and is committed to creating opportunities for local playwrights to thrive.
